Tähdenlento yksi wall hanging – Made in Oitti, Finland

Tähdenlento yksi (Shooting Star one) is a unique design art wall hanging, handcrafted by Kutomo Rasinmäki. It is part of The Heritage Collection – a collaboration between Finarte and Kutomo Rasinmäki.

Wall hangings are an essential part of Finland’s textile art heritage. Tähdenlento One brings a fresh and modern interpretation to this tradition with its graphic composition and vibrant, jewel-toned colour palette. Designed in 1985, the piece is part of a two-work series – Tähdenlento yksi and Tähdenlento kaksi – each beautiful as a standalone piece, but equally stunning displayed side by side as a pair. The piece combines rich shades of violet, lilac, soft yellow, orange and light blue, while playfully exploring surface textures – combining varying pile heights with partially cut-open surfaces to create a rich, tactile depth.

All pieces in the collection are designed by Eija Rasinmäki, co-founder of Finarte, and each is a one-of-a-kind art textile. Every work is handmade in Oitti, Finland, using traditional Finnish weaving methods, recycled, and natural materials. Tähdenlento yksi measures 76 × 115 cm and made from linen and cotton, with a linen warp.
